Packing Tips for your Photographic Equipment

Now that you've decided to sell us your photographic equipment, here are some tips that will help ensure that your package arrive to our company intact and in the best possible condition for our appraisal.

To securely pack your equipment you will need a thick walled cardboard box, heavy packaging tape, bubble wrap and foam peanuts. While newspaper may seem to work for stuffing the box, it does not provide stable resistance to prevent the items from floating in the box. If you do not have these packing materials, you can purchase them at a packaging outlet or shipping center.

Wrap each piece of equipment individually in bubble wrap, and place in box with peanuts so that there are peanuts between each item. Do not place any items in the corners of the box or flush to the side of the box. There should be at least three inches of peanuts between the items and the sides of the box. Finish filling the box with peanuts so that closing the top of the box takes some effort, this will ensure that when the peanuts settle there will still be plenty to protect the equipment from any impact to the box. When possible, double boxing is recommended ( putting the bubble wrapped items in one box with peanuts, and placing that box with peanuts in a larger box). Securely tape the box with wide packing tape in several directions and over all corners. Do not use scotch tape, masking tape or electrical tape, these types of tape will not hold the box intact or strong enough to resist crushing at the seams or fall-out.

Remember to include inside the box a complete list of all items you have sent, and where applicable note serial numbers, model, etc. Also include your complete shipping and billing address ( if they are different ), and your daytime phone number. If you have been given a Purchase Order number, please note those as well.

Finally, please send your package and completely insure it for the replacement value of the contents. If you're not sure of the best way to ship, please contact us.

Please understand that The Range Finder is not responsible for equipment that arrives to us broken or damaged. We will, however, notify both the sender and the shipper immediately and do what we can to expedite the claims process.
